AI Will Not Replace PMs - Reflections On PMI Norway's Summer Party 2024

With a welcome drink our President Mona welcomed all guests – for the occasion with an AI generated introduction. To ignite our audience we then ran an interactive Kahoot! session hosted by our Volunteer Engagement Director Ali Kohansal. With a lot of laughter and cheering the competitive audience could showcase existing and current understanding of AI!

Our keynote on AI and project management was presented by our Vice President Kjetil Volle, and his guestspeaker Lavanya Vijayaraghavan on link from the PMI Bangalore Chapter in India. Many questions came from our audience as the question “Will AI replace PMs” was answered with “No – but PMs must adapt and take personal responsibility to develop AI skills – because employers currently do not”.

We took a break to enjoy excellent food and drinks provided by our host “Nedre Løkka”, and continued with demos and tips. Thanks to Kjetil and Lavanya for the exellent lecture! A PDF version of the presentation is available here.

Our Professional Development Director Ingrid Palma Viddal continued by presenting our PMP prep course programme for 2024 and beyond.

Ali as our Volunteer Director thereafter presented our new Mentorship program which sparked a lot of interest. We still need mentors to support our programme and welcome senior PMs to contact us. Ali also informed about our upcoming Norwegian PM salary survey (due August this year).

Our time for networking - and getting to know our guests new to PMI Norway Chapter - was completed by a new Kahoot, looking into how our event had proven useful. Starting at 17.00 and ending at 21.30 – and still with most of our guests present – we noted both satisfaction and new requests to volunteer in our Chapter! 😊

Welcome back in August!
