HOW CAN PMI NORWAY CHAPTER INCREASE OUR MEMBER BASE

Recently a few of the leaders in PMI Norway Chapter attended the International 2-day PMI LIM Conference, (Leadership Institute Meeting) in Berlin.
The excellent programme covered almost every facet of PMI and the running of the PMI organisation. As such it was a crash course in leadership roles for PMI chapter leaders. I was particularly interested in what other chapters around the globe do to recruit more members and specifically to retain the many members who drop out after just a few years. This is a problem for Norway Chapter as well. We do try to put together an interesting and relevant seminar programme throughout the year for members to attend and maintain their PMP credentials, but we see that only about half the members even open their e-mail PMI-PUB meeting invitations. I attended all the relevant presentations addressing these issues, and had discussions with other leaders with a higher success rate than ours on recruitment and member retention. We have plans to expand our member services and diversify our strategy in the Oslo Branch to attract more members. Inspiration from other chapters working with similar problems gave us some ideas.
We also now request that members and non members reading this note will give more feedback with suggestions, also we are always open for proposals for good speakers and relevant seminar topics. Contact the relevant branch via the website http://pmi-no.org/about.php
