HUMANITARIAN PROJECTS IN WAR ZONES – OSLO PUB, 10 APRIL

Projects can be challenging by their very nature, but in war zones they can be deadly.

We were extremely fortunate in having 2 very capable speakers on the April 10^th PMI PUB agenda, who both had hands on experience working in areas where crises and war is a daily event.

Lars Andrè Skari is head of Strategy and Results in the International Program and Preparedness department of the Norwegian Red Cross. He gave us insight in how they work at the strategic and operational level to maximise the effect of their international humanitarian actions. This includes performance and risk management, project planning, monitoring, evaluation and reporting as well as learning. He has many years’ hands-on experience from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, Uganda, Moldova, Albania, Haiti and South Sudan.

Moneer Barazi is a certified PMP with five years field experience in project management with different humanitarian organisations. He showed us 3 case studies from war ravaged regions, which were implemented in volatile and challenging environments. Barazi has experience from humanitarian project in the Middle East, and being a Syrian himself knows very well what awful conditions there were there in the past 5 years.
