Partnering with Academia to Advance the Project Management Profession
Torgeir Fjelldal, Vice President at PMI Norway Chapter, refers to himself as an "Accidental Project Manager". And on 21 March, Torgeir walked the audience at NTNU through his own professional journey to showcase the many opportunities available to those who aspire to deliver maximum value through successful projects.
The objectives for the event were to:
- Create awareness of PMI
- Spotlight opportunities for students to engage in, and for networking within the Project Management community
- Provide tips and guidance on how to succeed as a professional Project Manager
Torgeir Fjelldal, Vice President at PMI Norway Chapter, at NTNU on 21 March 2025.
PMI's mission is to provide Project Professionals and employers with knowledge platforms and resourcers, career-long learning and development, and gold-standard professional certifications. And this expands beyond the PMI brand. Torgeir walked through the broad range of options available to PMI members:
- Projectmanagement.com - a platform that helps you target your learning through a personal roadmap
- Webinars and events
- Templates to give you a head start
- Community of like-minded professionals
- Topics to discuss items close to your heart
- Contribute content to make your knowledge inspire others
- PMI InfinityTM AI Tool - your ultimate AI-powered project management coach
- PMI membership - heavily discounted student memberships
- Academic scholarships available
Tip! Strive to become a specialized generalist Project Manager
One of Torgeir's best tips is to formalize your specializations, e.g. by using platforms such as Udemy and becoming a certified success through PMI's gold-standard certifications, Prince2, Scrum.org and other providers. It takes effort and dedication, but it pays off in more ways than the badge received at the end.
Think global, act local in PMI Norway Chapter
Whether you are looking for networking opportunities, local learning events or volunteering experience, PMI Norway Chapter can help accommodate all those needs.
