Oslo Branch is still to be reckoned with!
During the corona shutdown not much has seemed to happen in the Oslo Branch, but we have been very active in making the webinars happen. Some of the planned seminars in Oslo for 2020 are now even scheduled as webinars.
New volunteers in the Oslo Branch board
We have successfully recruited two new board members recently, Moneer Barazi and Katarina Jovanovic.
We know Moneer from his excellent contribution as s speaker in two of our evening seminars in 2018 and 2019. Katarina used to volunteer in the Bergen Branch board and has recently moved to Oslo, so we grabbed the opportunity to invite her to join the Oslo Branch as a board member. We welcome the new board members and promise to make them work hard while having a good time!
The board of Oslo Branch now has 5 members: Marit Husby, Moneer Barazi, Katarina Jovanovic, Lill-Ann Diserud and Joan Frost Urstad is branch leader.
Lill-Ann has decided to retire from the board in connection with the next election in November as she has been on the board for five years, but she will continue to volunteer for PMI Norway Chapter.
Also, for those of you who know Iroro Eradayaye from events in the Oslo Branch, he has decided to devote his time to achieving his PhD, and has withdrawn from the Oslo Branch board recently, but he will continue to volunteer. We thank Iroro for his effort with the Branch activities the last 3 years.
Events and activities planned for 2020 and beyond
The Oslo Branch goal has been to deliver eight seminars per year, which this year translates into webinars in co-operation with the Chapter Board. The great thing about webinars is that they reach all PMI members in Norway as well as members in other Chapters when the webinar is in English. The attendance at the webinars has been very good, where members do not have to rush out in the evening for a seminar, but can earn PDUs and attend webinars at home. We wish to continue doing webinars even though we will organise real live events when the opportunity presents itself.
We had to cancel the PMI Norway Chapter 20th Anniversary event planned this year, but it will be moved to 2021, and plan to celebrate in co-operation with DNV GL.
Oslo Branch has also promoted certification at our seminars, and has had course and certification information available at all the seminars. Oslo Branch has had five coopetition events with other academic and PM organisations in the last three years; Prosjekt Norge, NTNU, BI, Kristiania Høyskole and NITO, which have all been most successful and well attended.
Attracting corporate partners and new members
These corporate partners and corporations in Oslo have been most generous and sponsored Oslo Branch events in the past two years; MetierOEC, Skanska, Holte Consulting, Miles, PwC, SopraSteria, Ernst & Young (EY), Kongsberg Maritime, Skatteetaten, Schlumberger and Webstep.
We now have an ambition to secure more PMI members in the Oslo region, and to work with the Corporate Partner Director on the Chapter Board to engage more companies in the Oslo and Viken region to become corporate partners and promote PMI membership in their organisations.
