Crouch, Touch, Pause, ENGAGE! A Pracademic’s Reflections over Lean Thinking and Practice and its Application to Project Planning and Execution.

Welcome to PMI PUB in co-operation with WEBSTEP. This evening’s PUB-seminar will be in English.

Our speaker is Dr Daryl John Powell, Ph.D, who is an expert in lean thinking and practice. Daryl has almost two decades of experience from working in industry, including more than ten years involvement in developing and deploying company-specific lean programmes. He has both an MSc and a PhD in Lean. In 2016, Powell was recognized in The-LMJ.com’s Lean Top 25 as one of Europe’s leading lean practitioners. In 2017, he received the Shingo Research Award as co-editor of The Routledge Companion to Lean Management. On behalf of Kongsberg Maritime, he also received Lean Forum Norway’s Lean Company of the Year Award 2017 for efforts in establishing The KONGSBERG Way Corporate Lean Programme throughout the organization’s Subsea Division.

Lean thinking and practice has arguably become one of the most successful approaches to business improvement of our generation. It has outlasted many other improvement approaches and has been taken up by organizations in all kinds of industries across the world. In this engaging PMI pub session, Dr. Daryl Powell presents his reflections from over a decade of working with lean thinking and practice in a variety of industrial settings – as both a practitioner and academic. Drawing on his experiences from Lean Production and Lean Construction, and taking insight into Lean Software Development, Daryl will encourage participants to think and reflect over how Lean Thinking and Practice applies to Project Planning and Execution as an enabler of improved project delivery across many industries, in the IT as well as the traditional industry disciplines.
